We all might have heard of AMUL and consumed its products at least once in our lifetime. In fact, generations of Indians have grown up consuming their beloved dairy products, ranging from ice cream and chocolates to butter and milk.
Not surprisingly, AMUL is the largest dairy producer in India and the eighth largest in the world. As an investor, it does make you wonder – Is Amul Listed In NSE, and if you can invest in the dairy giant? Let’s find out in this blog!
About The Company

AMUL stands for Anand Milk Utpadak Ltd. It is based out of Anand, Gujarat, and has a rich history of dairy in India. Founded in 1946, the company has been operational for as long as India’s independence from the British Raj.
What grew Amul to what it is today is largely credited to one man and his vision – Dr. Verghese Kurian, also known as the Milk Man Of India. Kurian started what is widely known as the White Revolution of India, which has changed the way we view and consume dairy products.
Through Gujarat Co-Operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), AMUL was marketed to the brand it is today. Currently, GCMMF is the largest food marketing organization in India.
AMUL started as a union among farmers in Gujarat and today, they are partnered with 3.1 million farmers nationwide. The keyword here is partner – not worker, as 80% of the revenue earned is given back to the farmers as they are the owners of AMUL. That means for every ₹1 earned, 80 paise is given back to the farmers.
